The Brief

Maison Curio is a Singapore-based home decor and furniture brand with a curated product range that deserved a better stage. They were running on Magento — a powerful but complex platform that had become difficult to manage alongside the demands of running a growing physical and online business. They needed to move to Shopify but didn’t know how to approach the migration without disrupting their existing operations, and didn’t have time to figure it out while managing logistics.

The Challenge

Magento is built for enterprise-scale businesses. For an independent home decor brand, it meant heavy maintenance overhead, slower page loads, and a storefront UI that had fallen behind modern eCommerce design expectations. The challenges were twofold:

• Technical migration risk: Moving product data, collections, customer information, and URL structure without losing SEO rankings built up over time
• Design and UX gap: The existing Magento store didn’t reflect the quality and curation of Maison Curio’s product range. A home decor brand lives and dies by visual presentation — the store wasn’t doing the products justice
• Time constraint: The founder was deep in the logistics of running the business. The migration needed to be handled end-to-end without demanding hours of input

What Soodo Built

Soodo managed the complete migration from Magento to Shopify — covering both the technical data transfer and a full design rebuild:

• Full data migration: All products, collections, and content transferred to Shopify with the existing URL structure preserved and 301 redirects implemented throughout
• Homepage rebuild: A clean, editorial landing page that positions Maison Curio as a curated lifestyle destination — matching the aesthetic of the physical brand
• Collection pages: Restructured and redesigned for intuitive browsing — clear categories, consistent product card design, and logical filtering
• Product pages: Rebuilt with a UI that puts photography first, with clear product details, related items, and conversion-focused layout
• SEO protection throughout: URL structure, meta titles, and site architecture preserved during migration to maintain existing Google rankings

The Outcome

Maison Curio launched on Shopify with a store that genuinely reflects the quality of what they sell. The new store is cleaner, faster, and significantly more visually coherent than the original Magento build — with the day-to-day management simplicity of Shopify replacing the maintenance overhead of Magento.

The founder could focus on the business, not the tech. And the brand’s online presence finally matches the experience customers get in person.
