How this calculator works

The calculator subtracts your cost of goods, platform commission, transaction or payment fee, any programme service fee, shipping you subsidise and advertising spend from your selling price to give net profit per order and per month. Shopee and Lazada carry no monthly fee but take a percentage of every sale, while Shopify charges a fixed monthly plan plus a lower per-transaction rate — which is why Shopify wins on high volume and loses on low volume.

One input matters more than any other: the ad spend percentage on the Shopify column. Shopee and Lazada supply buyer traffic at no extra cost, so moving to your own store means buying that traffic yourself. Set it to 0% only if you already have an audience that buys from you directly.

What rates does this use?

  • Shopee Singapore: commission 7.6–12% for non-Mall sellers and up to about 15% for Shopee Mall, plus a 3.27% GST-inclusive transaction fee, plus an optional Promo Xtra service fee of 3.27–5.45%. Rates follow Shopee’s 1 January 2026 restructure.
  • Lazada Singapore: non-SPA Marketplace commission of 9.27% GST-inclusive on core electronics and baby & pet, and 10.90% on groceries and all other categories, capped at S$30–S$60 per order, following the 3% increase from 9 February 2026. Payment processing fee of 3.27% GST-inclusive. SPA members keep 6.5% commission plus a 4% SPA service fee.
  • Shopify Singapore: Basic S$39, Grow S$132 and Advanced S$531 per month, with Shopify Payments online card rates of 3.2%, 3.1% and 3.0% plus S$0.50 per transaction.
  • GST: Singapore GST is 9%, so a 3.0% fee before GST is 3.27% GST-inclusive.

What the numbers usually show

At a S$50 selling price, Shopee’s fees come to roughly S$7.50–S$12.50 per order against about S$2.10 on Shopify Basic — a gap of S$5–S$10 per order. At 200 orders a month that is S$1,000–S$2,000 in monthly fee savings, which is why sellers with steady volume and their own audience move to an owned store. At low volume, or when you must buy all your traffic, the marketplace usually still wins.

When your own store is not the right answer

Soodo is a founder-led boutique working with SME and bootstrapped founders, and it will say plainly when a Shopify store is not the right move. Sellers whose only source of customers is marketplace search, who sell commodity products at low average order values, or who have no email or social audience should keep building on Shopee and Lazada first. A Shopify store with no traffic strategy earns less than a well-ranked marketplace listing, regardless of the fee saving.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Shopee take per sale in Singapore?

Shopee Singapore charges non-Mall sellers a commission of roughly 7.6–12% and Shopee Mall sellers up to about 15%, plus a 3.27% GST-inclusive transaction fee, with an optional Promo Xtra service fee of 3.27–5.45%. Total fees commonly land between 15% and 25% of the selling price after the 1 January 2026 restructure.
