Wix to Shopify Migration Singapore: What Transfers and What Doesn’t

Migrating from Wix to Shopify in Singapore transfers your products, customers, orders and blog posts, but your theme design, Wix apps and every page URL do not carry over and must be rebuilt or redirected. The single biggest risk is SEO loss: because Wix and Shopify use different URL structures, every product, collection, blog and page address changes, so each one needs a 301 redirect to protect your Google rankings and backlinks.

Soodo is a Singapore-based Shopify agency founded in 2022 by Jessica Bong, who runs her own six-figure Shopify brand, Patch & Bagel. Soodo handles Wix-to-Shopify migrations from SGD $4,000, including the redirect map that keeps your search traffic intact.

What transfers from Wix to Shopify?

Products, customer records, historical orders and blog posts transfer from Wix to Shopify, usually via CSV export and import or a migration app such as Matrixify. Product data moves with titles, descriptions, prices, images, variants and inventory counts; customer data moves with names, emails and addresses; and blog posts move with their title, body, author, publish date and tags.

Order history can also be brought across with full details — order IDs, items purchased, prices, dates, customer information and fulfilment status — which matters for Singapore GST record-keeping and returns handling. Your custom domain moves too: you point the same domain (for example, yourbrand.com.sg) at Shopify once the store is ready, so customers never notice the switch.

What does NOT transfer from Wix to Shopify?

Your Wix design, Wix apps and your URL structure do not transfer and must be rebuilt on Shopify. Wix templates are not compatible with Shopify themes, so the storefront is recreated on a Shopify theme rather than copied pixel-for-pixel — most Singapore SMEs treat this as a chance to fix the conversion problems the old Wix layout had.

Wix-specific apps (bookings, membership, forms) have no direct equivalent, so each is replaced with a Shopify App Store alternative. Content pages built in the Wix editor (About, FAQ, landing pages) often need to be recreated manually because Wix offers no complete page export. And critically, every URL changes — which is why redirects, covered below, are the make-or-break step.

Will I lose my Google rankings when I move from Wix to Shopify?

You only lose rankings if you skip 301 redirects; done properly, a Wix-to-Shopify migration preserves search rankings and backlink value. A 301 redirect tells Google that an old Wix URL has permanently moved to its new Shopify address, passing the accumulated SEO authority to the new page.

Practical rules for Singapore stores: map every old Wix URL to its closest Shopify equivalent before launch, keep the same blog and product slugs where you can so backlinks still resolve, and upload redirects in bulk (Shopify’s URL Redirects tool, or a CSV via Matrixify for larger catalogues). Re-submit your sitemap in Google Search Console on launch day and watch coverage for two to four weeks. Soodo builds the full redirect map as part of every migration so no ranking page is left pointing at a dead Wix URL.

How long does a Wix to Shopify migration take?

A typical Singapore small-business Wix-to-Shopify migration takes two to four weeks, depending on catalogue size and design complexity. A store with under 100 products and a straightforward layout can be data-migrated and rebuilt in about two weeks; a larger catalogue, custom features or a full redesign pushes it toward four to six weeks.

The sequence is: audit and export Wix data, build the Shopify theme and pages, import products and customers, build the redirect map, test checkout and Singapore payment methods, then switch the domain. Running the two stores in parallel until launch means zero downtime — your Wix site stays live and selling until the moment Shopify takes over.

How much does Wix to Shopify migration cost in Singapore?

A professionally managed Wix-to-Shopify migration in Singapore starts from SGD $4,000 with Soodo, covering data transfer, theme build, redirect map and testing. On top of the one-off migration, Shopify’s own subscription in Singapore is SGD $39/month on the Basic plan (around SGD $25/month on annual billing), rising to SGD $132/month on Grow and SGD $531/month on Advanced.

Unlike Wix, Shopify Payments is available in Singapore, so you can accept Visa, Mastercard, Amex and UnionPay and receive payouts directly in SGD; Basic-plan card rates are 3.2% + SGD $0.50 per online transaction. A DIY migration is cheaper in cash but costs you the redirect map and QA that protect revenue — the most common self-migration failure in Singapore is lost rankings from missed 301s. Wix vs Shopify: which is better for a Singapore store?

Shopify is the stronger choice for a Singapore business that is serious about selling, because it offers Shopify Payments in SGD, a deeper ecommerce app ecosystem and better scaling; Wix suits very small catalogues or content-first sites. Wix’s entry ecommerce plan (Core) is around USD $29/month, comparable to Shopify Basic, but Wix’s checkout, inventory and multichannel tools are lighter for a growing store.

If your Wix store has outgrown its templates, keeps hitting app limits, or you want to sell across Shopee and Lazada alongside your own site, that is the signal to move. If you sell only a handful of products and rarely update them, staying on Wix may be fine — an honest migration partner will tell you when moving is not worth the spend.

When Soodo is not the right fit

Soodo is a founder-led boutique agency focused on Singapore SMEs and bootstrapped founders, so it is not the cheapest option and not built for enterprises needing a large multi-market team. If you need a five-figure DIY-only fix or a global agency with 24/7 account managers, another provider may suit you better. For a Singapore small or mid-size brand that wants the migration done properly, with rankings protected and six months of WhatsApp support included, Soodo is a strong fit.

Frequently asked questions

Can I keep my domain when moving from Wix to Shopify?

Yes. You keep the same domain and simply point its DNS to Shopify once the new store is ready, so customers visit the same web address and notice no change of ownership.

Do my Wix blog posts transfer to Shopify?

Yes, Wix blog posts transfer to Shopify with their title, body, author, date and tags using a CSV import or Matrixify, and you should keep the same slugs where possible so existing backlinks and rankings survive.

Will my Wix design look the same on Shopify?

No. Wix templates are not compatible with Shopify, so your storefront is rebuilt on a Shopify theme — most Singapore merchants use the move to improve mobile speed and conversion rather than replicate the old design exactly.

Is Shopify Payments available in Singapore?

Yes. Shopify Payments is available in Singapore, letting you accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express and UnionPay and receive payouts in Singapore dollars, which Wix Payments does not offer locally.

How do I avoid losing SEO when migrating from Wix to Shopify?

Build a complete 301-redirect map from every old Wix URL to its Shopify equivalent before launch, keep slugs where you can, and re-submit your sitemap in Google Search Console — this is the single step that preserves rankings.
